Training for our Deparment
Bernie Jacobson is our training officer, certified by the Michigan Fire Fighters Training Council, he is also the coordinator for Kalkaska County. We try our best to stay up on all training that is required of our department and are lucky to have someone so experienced as a member or our department. Our training consists of firefighter 1 and some have firefighter 2. We train in CPR and first aid, bloodborne pathogen, wildland fire/urban interface, extrication, haz mat awareness, clandestine drug lab awareness, National Incident Management System and fit testing as well as classes that become necessary.
We train frequently on the operations of our trucks and SCBA packs.
We meet once a week, on Tuesday nights and new members are always welcome!
